May Two Days Pa Ako!

Bigla kita na-miss.

I am Counted!

This is my second presidential election. In 2004, I rooted for Raul Roco to win. But GMA got the most numbers. Now, in the first automated election in the country, I'm a little apprehensive on the turn out. Election started at seven this morning, but instead of casting my vote then, I've decided to do it in the afternoon. Early today, my father said that there are many people in our precincts. I have been monitoring this election since  this morning in GMA News, Facebook and Twitter. And realized that casting of vote is averaging from two to four hours.

How am I going to vote? Would I be able to stand the heat and the long line?

At exactly 3:04pm, we are entering the premises of the school. We brought with us the small paper from PPCRV bearing my precinct number and cluster number. To my surprise, gone is the long line and we went directly to the BEI. After signing and marking the election list, we were given the ballot to be used. The ballot is long. I think the secrecy folder is a little useless because it is harder to shade on the ballot using it. Oh well, it is just me. :)

I am a little careful in shading the ballot since I heard from the news that it might not be read by the PCOS machine if I shade too hard. After few minutes, I put in my ballot to the PCOS machine and waited to see the Congratulations message. And I did see it, the PCOS machine accepted my ballot on the first try. Someone (the BEI, I guess!) put the indelible ink after. At 3:15pm, I've voted. :)

And this is the one with my brother.

And now, what will happen next?

No, I'm Not for Yellow!

I watched Biyaheng Totoo in GMA7. The feature of Kara David in Zamboanga broke my heart. I couldn't believe that there are people who get as little as six pesos per day. When asked what he wanted to tell the next president, his response was "Wala kami hihilingin. Nahihiya kami sa gobyerno."

In few hours, the country would decide the best man for the highest position in the land. I don't know if the surveys are right that the Yellow would beat all the others. But I'm still rooting for the Red. Competence is the word.

Months back, when Cory was laid to rest, and while reading Conrado de Quiros' column in PDI, I remember saying to myself that I hope Noynoy would run for the presidency. Surely, I'd vote for him. Few weeks after, he did. But no, I'm sorry, he's not getting my vote this time.

I'm too sentimental and emotional for my own good that I'm willing to entrust my future, and the future of the rest of the Filipino people, to the candidate who has no bill on his name on his 12 years in the Senate and Congress combined. Yes, he is not corrupt as most people claimed. But have you heard the SCTEx issue? Do you remember the Hacienda Luisita massacre? I am no expert in social issues but I think that GMANews.TV could explain them better.

This country doesn't need a saviour. This country needs a competent leader.

Go out and vote!

Caliraya, Baby!

I didn't expect we'd be able to push through our Caliraya summer outing in our project. Since February, we'd been working our butt off to settle things. However, due to miscommunications, company policy issue, fully booked reservations and other things, we almost changed our plans. Just when we were settling to Grande Island in Subic, I've been told by the Events department of the company that we could revert back to the original plan - a Caliraya Recreation Center summer outing.

Everyone had been adamant that this year, we'd have fun under the sun in Laguna. I didn't know why, I've never been there, and honestly, I wasn't that thrilled then. Since I volunteered to be part of the Logistics team, we spearheaded the request for the venue, the transportation to be used, and so on and so forth. During that time, the to-do list seemed endless.

But after all the revisions of request, the lunch meetings, the follow-up calls, the re-approvals, the changing of date, finally, we were on Caliraya on May 1 and 2, 2010.

The trip was unexpectedly long. The traffic that day was heavy. Everyone was getting hungry then. We were a little worried about our lunch since the management was said to be strict on meal times. Breakfast should be at 7am to 7:45am, lunch at 12nn to 12:45pm and dinner at 6pm to 6:45pm. We arrived past 12nn and has pre-arranged our lunch. The good thing was we have an advance party that advise the Caliraya management of our late arrival. Food was good, by the way.

Superhero much? I am not.

So please stop putting the blame on me. Please stop making me feel that my efforts are not good enough. And that I am not good enough. I feel tired. I feel sad. I feel incompetent. Please do something.

Save whatever that is left of us.
